During the Becker’s Healthcare Oncology Virtual Forum on Aug. 25, experts from across the industry shared their insights about the state of cancer care today and what’s in store for the future in four engaging panels. Click here to view the panels on-demand.
Here are two key takeaways from the event:
1. Rankings and ratings for cancer care rarely capture experience across the entire cancer journey, from finding a parking spot each week to infusion changes to side effects experienced at home. They also fail to capture how cancer care affects people across races and socioeconomic statuses.
2. Conversations about cancer care costs are much more complicated than they used to be, as oncology leaders increasingly focus on cancer survivorship. The dialogue has shifted away from exclusively talking about current treatment costs to now encompass patients’ long-term goals and financial plans.
