Blytheville, Ark.-based Great River Cancer Center will close in March due to financial struggles, ABC and NBC affiliate KAIT reported Jan. 18.

Hospital CEO Chris Raymer, MSN, APRN, stressed it has struggled with funding for a while. He said last year the center had 51 patients.

“We had 72 total infusion patients at the beginning of the year and right now already we have placed 55 percent somewhere else,” Mr. Raymer told KAIT. “It was a tough decision. Sadly, though, with the low volume our cost is much higher per patient.”
