The project, which involves researchers from Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Hollings Cancer Center; UAB’s O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center in Birmingham, Ala.; and Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta, is supported by a $5 million fund from the Veterans Affairs.
The goal of the five-year project is to create a program that advances access to lung cancer screening, molecular testing and clinical trials.
The long-term goal is to establish a national network of sites so that veterans at smaller VA facilities will also have access to the same level of care.
