Dana-Farber posts 3% operating margin in H1

Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute recorded an operating income of $61.2 million (3% operating margin) in the first half of fiscal 2026, compared to an operating income of $61.5 million (3.2% margin) during the same period last year. 

Dana-Farber reported total operating revenue of $2.1 billion for the six months ended March 31, up from $1.9 billion during the same period last year. Net patient service revenue was $1.6 billion, up from $1.5 billion. The increase in net patient service revenue was attributed to a growth in patient volume and pharmacy revenue. Clinic visits grew 3.2% year over year and infusion visits grew 6.1%.

Total operating expenses were $2 billion in H1 2026, up from $1.8 billion during the same period last year. Total patient service expenses were $1.4 billion, up from $1.2 billion. Dana-Farber said this increase was primarily driven by higher patient volumes, compensation-related expenses and rising pharmaceutical costs. Total research expenses were $322.9 million, down from $327 million. Total general and administrative expenses were $324.2 million, up from $323.7 million. 

Dana-Farber recorded a net income of $108.2 million in the first half of 2026, up from $104.1 million during the same period last year.
