Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has received $50 million from the Yawkey Foundation to support the institute’s planned $1.7 billion cancer hospital, currently under construction.
A bridge connecting the new hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Yawkey Center for Cancer Care will be named in honor of donors Jean and Tom Yawkey. The bridge will connect Dana-Farber’s inpatient and outpatient facilities, according to a June 9 news release from the cancer institute.
The cancer institute recently signed a letter of intent to build an ambulatory care building in Brighton, Mass. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute President and CEO Benjamin Ebert, MD, PhD, shared news of the project in a June 8 LinkedIn post.
Construction of the Yawkey Center for Cancer Care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute began in 2007 through a $30 million grant from the Yawkey Foundation.
