Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth Health’s cancer center has launched a new division dedicated to developing treatment models that reduce the environmental footprint of cancer care and ensure resiliency amid climate change-related disruptions.

The Division of Resilient and Sustainable Cancer Care at the Dartmouth Cancer Center will be led by Katie Lichter, MD, and is the first such division within a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, according to an April 21 news release shared with Becker’s.

“The division’s work will center on two key priorities: building resilience by lowering barriers and ensuring uninterrupted, equitable care amid a changing climate, and reducing the environmental impacts of delivering high-quality care,” the release said.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
