Far Rockaway, N.Y.-based Episcopal Health Services has opened a cancer center within the system’s Walsh Ambulatory Pavilion.
The EHS Cancer Center will provide medical and radiation oncology care, while surgical oncology services will remain at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, located across the street from the center, according to a Feb. 24 news release from the health system.
The cancer center’s opening marks the return of radiation oncology services to the Rockaway (N.Y.) Peninsula in more than a decade, the release said.
Patients can access PET/CT imaging, radiation and infusion therapy as well as supportive services such as social work, physician rehabilitation, specialty pharmacy and survivorship care at the center.
Total construction costs for the cancer center were about $18 million, an Episcopal Health Services spokesperson told Becker’s.
