Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger has implemented a systemwide expansion of 3D mammography.

In a recent study, 3D mammography had a higher rate of cancer depiction compared to traditional mammography. The technology may also reduce the need for additional imaging and minimize false-positive results, according to a June 23 news release from the health system.

“Our patients will no longer need to travel outside of the Geisinger service area to receive state-of-the-art breast imaging,” Timothy Murphy, MD, director of women’s imaging at Geisinger, said in the release.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
