A recent study found that statin use can reduce breast cancer death and recurrence by roughly 20%.
The study, published June 12 in the British Journal of Cancer, analyzed 34 studies that included 689,990 women with breast cancer.
Researchers found that lipophilic stains had more protective effects against death than hydrophilic statins, but not recurrence. The differences in outcomes by subgroup were not statistically significant.
