Phoenix-based Mayo Clinic in Arizona has added lung transplantation to its solid organ transplant program.
A surgical team led by Jonathan D’Cunha, MD, PhD, surgical director of the Mayo Clinic in Arizona Lung Transplant Program, performed the first lung transplant in a 66-year-old patient May 30, according to a June 23 news release from the health system.
The patient was discharged June 18, the release said.
Ashraf Omar, MD, and Bashar Aqel, MD, serve as medical director and director of the lung transplant program, respectively.
