Memorial Sloan Kettering oncologist named next ASCO president

The American Society of Clinical Oncology has named Deb Schrag, MD, as the organization’s next president. 

Dr. Schrag is a gastrointestinal medical oncologist and the George J. Bosl Chair of the department of medicine at New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, according to a Dec. 19 news release from the hospital. 

She will take office as president-elect at the ASCO’s annual meeting in June. 

Dr. Schrag previously served as chief of the division of population sciences at Boston-based Dana Farber Cancer Institute and as a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, also in Boston.
