Montefiore Einstein names cancer center director

New York City-based Montefiore Health System has named Ulrich Steidl, MD, PhD, director of the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Steidl, who has served as interim cancer center director since late 2025, was also appointed vice president of cancer medicine at Montefiore Einstein, according to an April 7 health system news release. 

Since joining Montefiore Einstein in 2008, Dr. Steidl has served as associate chair for translational research in the department of oncology, interim director of the Ruth L. and David S. Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine, and deputy cancer center director. He will continue to serve as chair of the department of cell biology at New York City-based Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
