The freestanding outpatient facility is scheduled for completion in 2025 and is the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, according to a Sept. 20 news release from West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health.
The cancer center will feature medical, surgical and radiation oncology services as well as holistic support services such as a wig and prosthetic studio, a teaching kitchen, yoga, reiki and music therapy. The facility will also have private infusion rooms, short-term and extended-stay treatment spaces designed to help prevent hospitalizations for patients needing treatment, and a garden terrace.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
