New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health has expanded outpatient infusion therapy services at the R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center in Lake Success, N.Y.
The $1.1 million expansion includes eight infusion bays, a separate entrance, waiting area and three nursing stations, according to a June 2 news release from the health system.
The infusion center will serve patients undergoing bone marrow transplants, CAR-T cell therapy and other cellular therapies in an outpatient setting, allowing them to return home for recovery before their next treatment.
Around-the-clock patient support services will ensure “continuous care and assistance beyond hospital walls,” A. Samer Al-Homsi, MD, system chief of blood and marrow transplant and cellular therapy, said in the release.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
