Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine has opened an approximately 80,000-square-foot outpatient center on the campus of Huntley, Ill.-based Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, expanding cancer, heart and specialty care services.
The facility expands existing oncology and infusion, cardiovascular, general surgery and urology services and adds gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine, palliative care and radiation oncology, according to an Oct. 19 news release. Gynecologic oncology is coming in 2027.
The center’s dedicated Cancer Center doubles the number of exam and infusion rooms. Infusion capacity increased from eight to 16 rooms, while medical oncology exam rooms increased from six to 13.
Radiation oncology and palliative care are being offered on the Huntley campus for the first time. The radiation oncology program includes six exam rooms.
The expansion supports approximately 300 new jobs over the next three years, adding to more than 1,330 employees and 300 board-certified physicians already working on the Huntley Hospital campus.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
