Miami-based Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center — part of the University of Miami Health System and Miller School of Medicine — has doubled its research footprint with the opening of its Griffin Cancer Research Building in fall 2025.
The new building houses clinical care alongside research facilities and has an estimated total workforce capacity of up to 1,000, according to a Feb. 4 news release.
Clinical capabilities include 27 infusion bays, imaging suites and onsite pharmacy as well as supportive services such as nutrition counseling, yoga, meditation, art and music therapy, and wig fitting.
The building’s research facilities include AI-driven dry labs and laboratories organized into “neighborhoods” to promote cross-team collaboration, the release said.
