The award from the National Institutes of Health is expected to provide the university with over $11.3 million during a five-year phase 1 period, with the opportunity to compete for renewal for up to three phases.
To combat disparities in how clinicians interpret imaging results, researchers at the center are developing quantitative imaging markers to create an objective measure or index that will help make medical image diagnoses more consistent.
Bin Zheng, PhD, a professor and cancer researcher, has been tapped to lead the new facility. Four projects are currently underway.
