The Merkel Cell Carcinoma Collaborative Institute, also known as MC3, is led by the chair of UW Medicine’s department of dermatology, Paul Nghiem, MD, PhD, according to a Jan. 30 news release from the university.
The collaborative comprises about 50 members across 15 institutions with access to more than 60,000 biological specimens and a clinical database of information from more than 1,900 patients.
Dr. Ngheim anticipates the institute will serve as a “virtual meeting place” for research collaboration, with hopes of awarding grants to member labs in the future, the release said.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
