Atlanta-based Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University has launched a lung cancer screening program that harnesses AI to detect pulmonary nodules found during CT scans.
The Emory Healthcare Lung Screening and Nodule Program aims to diagnose and treat lung cancer at the earliest possible stage, according to a Dec. 15 news release from the university.
To support seamless and streamlined care coordination, Emory has created several roles: a program manager, three clinical coordinators and three nurse navigators.
Lung cancer screening is available at all Emory locations with CT scanners, while the lung nodule program will be immediately available at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta, and at Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Johns Creek, Ga., in 2026.
