Seattle-based Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center will lead a $15 million national clinical trial to study treatment strategies for older adults with acute myeloid leukemia.
The study will be led by Fred Hutch physician and researcher Mohamed Sorror, MD, and will enroll about 800 patients at 18 medical centers across the U.S., according to an Aug. 27 news release from the cancer center.
The trial will compare stem cell transplantation with non-transplant therapy after older adult patients with acute myeloid leukemia achieve remission.
The five-year funding award was given by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
