Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health has opened a new cancer center within its JFK University Medical Center, also in Edison.
The facility marks a $14 million investment, with expanded space for surgical, medical and oncology services and double the number of infusion suites previously available, according to a May 2 news release from the health system.
Eligible Hackensack Meridian patients receiving treatment at the new facility can apply for financial assistance to cover transportation, medication or other needs through a $1 million gift from the Sarala Bathena Foundation. The Sarala Bathena Oncology Patient Assistance Fund and the cancer center’s lobby are both named in honor of Sarala Bathena, who died from late-stage renal carcinoma in 2006.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
