The Association of American Cancer Institutes has added three members to its board of directors: Jonathan Friedberg, MD, Primo Lara, MD, and Matthew Vander Heiden, MD, PhD.
They will begin serving three-year terms in October, according to a Sept. 1 news release from AACI.
Dr. Friedberg is director of Rochester, N.Y.-based Wilmot Cancer Institute and the Samuel Durand Professor of Medicine at University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medicine.
Dr. Lara is director of Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and executive associate dean for cancer programs at UC Davis School of Medicine, also in Sacramento.
Dr. Vander Heiden is director of the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research and the Lester Wolfe Chair in Molecular Biology at Cambridge-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Drs. Friedberg, Lara and Vander Heiden replace outgoing board members Raymond DuBois, MD, PhD, director of Charleston-based Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina, and Yolanda Sanchez, PhD, director and CEO of Albuquerque-based University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center.
