Seattle-based Fred Hutch Cancer Center has named two oncology leaders to endowed chair positions.
Heather Cheng, MD, PhD, has been named the inaugural Marty Lazarus Weiden Family Endowed Chair. The purpose of the endowed chair is to support the detection, prevention and treatment of cancers related to inherited genetic risk.
Dr. Cheng serves as clinical director of Fred Hutch’s cancer genetics programs and directs the Fred Hutch Prostate Cancer Genetics Clinic, according to an Aug. 18 news release from the cancer center.
Andrew Hsieh, MD, has been named the inaugural Larry and Virginia Gordon Endowed Chair in Prostate and Bladder Cancer Research. Dr. Hsieh plans to use the endowed chair funds to study mRNA translation as well as cancer heterogeneity and metastasis.
Dr. Hsieh is associate director of Fred Hutch’s Human Biology Division, according to an Aug. 24 news release from the cancer center.
