UChicago Medicine names cancer pavilion COO

UChicago Medicine has named Kimyatta Washington COO of the AbbVie Foundation Cancer Pavilion.

The pavilion is expected to open in April 2027 and will be the largest freestanding cancer hospital in Illinois, according to a Sept. 8 news release from UChicago Medicine.

Ms. Washington will continue to serve as vice president and chief administrative officer of cancer services, roles she has held since joining the health system in 2024.

Following the cancer pavilion opening, Ms. Washington will begin serving as COO of the Hyde Park medical campus.

Prior to joining UChicago Medicine, Ms. Washington served in leadership roles at New Brunswick, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health/Rutgers Cancer Institute, Washington, D.C.-based MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System.
