Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has launched a $2.5 billion philanthropic campaign, the largest fundraising effort in the center’s 84-year history.
Initial donor support has raised $1.9 billion toward the $2.5 billion goal, according to a Nov. 14 news release from the cancer center.
The effort, called Only Possible Here, The Campaign to End Cancer, will have three areas of focus: to expand MD Anderson’s reach, expedite breakthroughs and elevate the patient experience, the release said.
The main priorities under the three focus areas are MD Anderson’s expansion to Austin, Texas; a cancer neuroscience program; the Institute for Cell Therapy Discovery & Innovation; the Institute for Data Science in Oncology; the James P. Allison Institute; the Kinder Children’s Cancer Center; the Meyers Institute for Oncology Nursing; a master facilities plan and creation of the largest oncology patient navigation program in the U.S.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
