Columbia-based University of Missouri School of Medicine will study how pharmacy engagement can improve colorectal cancer screening rates.
The study is funded by a four-year, $4.2 million grant and will be conducted in collaboration with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and the Missouri Pharmacy Association, according to a Sept. 1 news release from the University of Missouri.
One hundred pharmacies will participate in the study and either provide patients with education on colorectal cancer screening or engage the patient throughout the entire screening pathway. The study will enroll military veterans who have a higher risk of developing colorectal cancer, the release said.
