From outpatient care facilities and specialty clinics to infusion centers and research labs, here are 61 health systems opening cancer centers or expanding oncology services in 2026:
- Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare and Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health opened the first proton beam therapy center in Connecticut. The Connecticut Proton Center was established in collaboration with Proton International, with Yale Medicine and Connecticut Radiation Oncology providing clinical leadership.
- Charlottesville, Va.-based UVA Health is preparing to open a cancer clinic in Lynchburg, Va., located in the UVA Health Lynchburg Dialysis building. Care is expected to begin in late October or early November; the system will begin recruiting healthcare workers for open positions later in September.
- Portland, Maine-based MaineHealth opened an expanded Infusion Center and Oncology & Blood Disorder Practice at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital in Damariscotta, Maine. The addition of four infusion chairs is expected to increase treatment capacity by 40%, partially funded by a $4.5 million congressional spending award.
- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health opened an inpatient cell therapy and stem cell transplant unit at Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center. The 24-room unit is in the Weaver Tower at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville; the system expects to begin offering stem cell transplants there in summer 2027.
- Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health opened a cancer center in Park City, Utah, increasing infusion capacity from four bays to 18. The center will serve up to 1,500 patients per year and offers telehealth access to Intermountain cancer specialists.
- Mishawaka, Ind.-based Saint Joseph Health System will invest $25 million to establish a cancer center at Saint Joseph Mishawaka Medical Center. Construction begins this fall; the facility will provide oncology, hematology, radiation and infusion services.
- Chico, Calif.-based Enloe Health celebrated the completion of the Enloe Health Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center, set to open to patients in September. The facility will have 51 infusion spaces, 14 consult rooms, six cancer departments and three linear accelerators.
- Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has opened an outpatient clinic with Attleboro, Mass.-based Sturdy Health, operated by Dana-Farber within the Sturdy Health Specialty Care Building. The clinic has 10 exam rooms and 17 infusion beds and offers genetic counseling, clinical trials and nutrition guidance.
- Irvine, Calif.-based UCI Health opened its 52-bed UCI Health-Irvine Rehabilitation Hospital, which will house the county’s first dedicated inpatient cancer rehabilitation unit, opening at a later date.
- Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger opened a cancer center in Lewisburg, Pa. The Geisinger Cancer Center Lewisburg has 12 exam rooms and 15 infusion stations, offering medical and radiation oncology, hematology and palliative care.
- Columbus-based OhioHealth will invest $10.2 million to expand the Bradley Cancer Center at Berger Hospital in Circleville, Ohio. Renovation runs over the next two years, with cancer services remaining available throughout construction; plans include additional infusion spaces, pharmacy services and a second CT scanner.
- York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health is expanding cancer care services across Union, Snyder, Northumberland, Columbia and surrounding Pennsylvania counties in a phased rollout beginning in September. Renovations start December 2026, with the renovated cancer center — offering medical/radiation oncology and infusion services — expected to open spring 2027.
- A new cancer center providing medical oncology, radiation oncology and imaging services in Tullahoma, Tenn., opened Aug. 3. Nashville-based Tennessee Oncology’s Tullahoma Medical Center spans 33,000 square feet; the practice treats nearly half of Tennessee’s cancer patients.
- Tampa-based Moffitt Cancer Center purchased 34 acres in Lakeland, Fla. for $12 million for a new outpatient facility. The center — offering screenings, imaging, infusion, medical oncology and radiation therapy — is expected to open in 2029 and will be Moffitt’s first outpost in Polk County.
- Charleston, W.Va.-based Vandalia Health opened a nearly $6.9 million oncology and clinical expansion at Mon Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood, W.Va., including an eight-bay private infusion center with a separate patient entrance.
- St. Louis-based SSM Health expanded the cancer center at St. Joseph Hospital-Lake Saint Louis, Mo., in a “multi-million-dollar transformation” adding exam rooms, infusion bays, and expanded pharmacy, lab and waiting space.
- Atlanta-based Northside Hospital has opened a radiation oncology center at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Ga., featuring TrueBeam and Halcyon linear accelerators, high-dose-rate brachytherapy and on-site CT simulation.
- Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth has expanded its cancer institute’s footprint with a new cancer center in Winter Garden, Fla., offering radiation and medical oncology, immunotherapy and personalized care plans; patient treatment began July 27.
- Lexington-based University of Kentucky has topped off the new UK Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Building, the future home of UK Markey Cancer Center along with a spine center and outpatient services. Expected to open for patient care in 2028.
- Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth opened a cancer pavilion in Rome, Ga., with a breast center, on-site lab and pharmacy, and hematology/oncology specialists; radiation therapy and a Center for Whole-Person Care are planned for the site.
- Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has filed a Determination of Need application to reopen a radiation oncology clinic in partnership with Lawrence, Mass.-based Merrimack Health, on the Merrimack Health campus in Methuen, Mass. The prior clinic closed in October 2025 amid Steward Health Care’s bankruptcy.
- Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine plans to build a $275 million cancer center in Orland Park, Ill., partially funded by a $225 million donation from the St. George Foundation. Pending Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approval, construction would begin in October, with completion targeted for March 2030.
- Baltimore-based LifeBridge Health opened a $95 million cancer center — the Mandy & Dennis Weinman Cancer Building — on the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore campus, with 32 adult and 7 pediatric infusion bays and an on-site lab supporting 75 combined adult and pediatric oncology clinical trials.
- Christus Children’s, part of Irving, Texas-based Christus Health, launched a mobile PET-CT imaging unit — funded by a $2.5 million gift from Valero — serving pediatric and adult cancer and neurological patients across San Antonio, New Braunfels and San Marcos.
- Stamford (Conn.) Health will build a new cancer center and behavioral health facility as part of a $275 million expansion, with construction expected to begin in 2027. The new cancer center will operate in collaboration with Boston-based Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center; the existing Bennett Cancer Center will convert to behavioral health space.
- Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute signed a letter of intent to build an ambulatory care building in Brighton, Mass., expected to open summer 2029 pending regulatory approval, with exam rooms, infusion, pharmacy, radiology, lab and clinical trial services.
- Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.-based Phelps Hospital, part of Northwell Health, opened a donor-funded health and wellness center for cancer patients adjacent to its infusion center, offering exercise oncology, acupuncture, art/music therapy, reiki, massage, meditation, support groups and nutritional support.
- The Massachusetts Public Health Council approved a Determination of Need for Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to build a $50.5 million proton therapy center on its Longwood Medical Campus — the first in New England to treat patients seated or inclined — expected to open late 2027.
- Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health will invest $22.7 million in renovations at the Trinity Health Grand Rapids (Mich.) Richard J. Lacks Sr. Cancer Center. The cancer center will remain open during construction, which is expected to be completed in fall 2028.
- New York City-based NYU Langone opened the Perlmutter Cancer Center — Staten Island May 1. The cancer center was created in partnership with New York Cancer & Blood Specialists, whose existing location was renovated into the new facility.
- Evansville, Ind.-based Deaconess Health System will build a new cancer center. Expected to open in 2028, the Cinelli Cancer Center will cost more than $150 million. The health system has raised $35 million for the project to date.
- Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health broke ground on an $8.9 million oncology expansion and a $12 million outpatient imaging center at its Unity campus.
- Coral Gables, Fla.-based Baptist Health South Florida received $2 million in support of the Al and Jane Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health Cancer Care.
- Gastonia, N.C.-based CaroMont Health is investing $200 million to expand oncology services through three projects: a new hematology and oncology physician office in Belmont, a new cancer center in Gastonia and a new radiation therapy center in Belmont. The system broke ground on the 125,000-square-foot Gastonia cancer center in June; it’s expected to double CaroMont’s oncology capacity.
- Northern Arizona Healthcare began construction on a $39.5 million cancer center at its Cottonwood, Ariz.-based Verde Valley Medical Center campus. The cancer center is expected to open in September 2027.
- Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine broke ground on a $122 million cancer care facility in Wheeling, W.Va. The WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex is expected to open in fall 2028.
- Columbus-based OhioHealth began construction on a $226 million outpatient cancer center at its administrative campus, with completion expected in late 2028.
- Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital — part of Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham — received $35 million from Irving Oil to fund two cancer-focused facilities within the Phillip and Susan Ragon Building, currently under construction.
- Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai received $30 million to establish the Cedars-Sinai Cayton BRCA Center, which will focus on the research, diagnosis and treatment of cancers linked to mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.
- Hartford HealthCare’s St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn., received $15 million to expand and modernize its inpatient oncology unit, supporting upgrades at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at St. Vincent’s.
- Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital received $10 million to establish the Ian and Jean MacKechnie Immunotherapy Lab within the Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute, in partnership with the University of South Florida.
- NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health invested $2 million to renovate its oncology and infusion center, expanding capacity from five to 13 exam rooms and from seven to 11 infusion bays.
- Naples (Fla.) Comprehensive Health received $10 million to fund women’s cancer care services across multiple NCH facilities, including an outpatient infusion center and the women’s oncology surgical wing at NCH North Hospital.
- Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health received more than $10 million in federal funding to improve rural cancer care services, including a fixed PET/CT scanner for the Avera Cancer Institute in Yankton, S.D., and replacement linear accelerators in three regional hubs.
- Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health opened a cancer center at Denver-based Saint Joseph Hospital.
- Los Angeles-based Keck Medicine of USC expanded medical oncology services at Keck Medicine of USC Irvine (Calif.), a clinic specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders.
- Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger will begin a $2.5 million expansion of the Geisinger Cancer Center Pottsville (Pa.) later in 2026.
- Miami-based Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center — part of the University of Miami Health System and Miller School of Medicine — doubled its research footprint with the opening of its Griffin Cancer Research Building in fall 2025, housing clinical care alongside research facilities with capacity for up to 1,000 workers.
- Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente began construction on a new cancer center at the Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu, expected to open in 2027.
- Hendersonville, N.C.-based UNC Health Pardee, a nonprofit healthcare system managed by Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health, opened an outpatient infusion center.
- Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Children’s opened a resource center for cancer patients and their families, providing financial and nurse navigation services, educational liaisons and psychosocial specialists.
- University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center partnered with the Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation to establish the UChicago Medicine Ralph Lauren Center.
- Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health completed an expansion on the Novant Health Cancer Institute in Thomasville, N.C., adding infusion chairs and doubling exam room capacity.
- Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health began construction on the Advanced Cancer Center and Care Complex in Modesto, Calif., an estimated $380 million project and part of the health system’s larger multiyear expansion plan in the Modesto area.
- Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center opened the Moffitt Speros Outpatient Center on its Land O’ Lakes, Fla.-based research and medical campus. The facility is also home to Moffitt’s Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Proton Therapy Center, named for a $15 million gift from Best Buy founder Dick Schulze.
- Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital and Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham launched a joint ambulatory care network to serve Florida’s East Coast and expand outpatient services, beginning with a radiation oncology facility in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
- Cleveland-based University Hospitals opened a new breast center at Painesville, Ohio-based UH TriPoint Medical Center.
- Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute opened a head and neck cancer survivorship clinic.
- New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health opened a dedicated high-dose-rate brachytherapy radiation medicine suite at Lake Success, N.Y.-based R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center.
- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Nemours Children’s Health opened an outpatient hospital for patients with cancer and blood disorders in Wilmington, Del.
